Ballard and Hoes Help Baysox Top Thunder

The Baysox are now only two games behind first place Harrisburg.

The Bowie Baysox took down the Trenton Thunder 4-1 in the hot huimid weather Friday night. With the win, the team improves to 54-43 on the season, closing in on Harrisburg who they trail by only two games.

Left-hander Mike Ballard pitched six innings Friday, allowing only one run on five hits, striking out five batters in his sixth win of the season.

The Baysox offense was hinged on a standout performance by Bowie native LJ Hoes with three hits and three RBIs.

“Thank god we only needed a couple runs tonight - their guy [Banuelos] was really good and we hung in there,” said Baysox Manager Gary Kendall. “LJ Hoes drove in three runs and Mahoney picked up that big sac fly—it was a good night for us.”
