Wintry Mix Could Hit Late Friday Night

The National Weather Service is forecasting light snow, sleet and possibly freezing rain.

The National Weather Service issued a winter weather advisory for snow, sleet and freezing rain beginning at 11 p.m. Friday and continuing to about 1 a.m. Saturday in Prince George's County.

The precipitation is expected to begin as snow and sleet with a light coating of up to one inch of snow in certain areas before changing to freezing rain and then rain overnight before ending later Saturday, according to the weather service.

The temperatures Friday evening should be in the upper 20s and lower 30s. The highs on Saturday are forecasted to be in the upper 30s and lower 40s with winds of about 5 to 10 mph.

The wintry mix could cause slippery traveling conditions late Friday night through Saturday morning. Ice is expected to accumulate on trees and power lines, according to information from the weather service.

A winter weather advisory means that periods of snow, sleet, or freezing rain will cause travel difficulties. Be prepared for slippery roads and limited visibilities, and use caution while driving.
