The two are being honored with 18 other students from the county as part of The Scholar Dollar Program, which was created in 2006 through a joint effort of Prince George’s County Government Office of the County Executive and PGCPS to reward students for academic excellence.

The program gives special discounts and incentives to students who earn a 3.0 grade point average, honor roll or other significant achievement during each report card period. Any students meeting those requirements is eligible to be entered in a drawing to win a mall gift card. At the event Wednesday, the winner of the grand prize—which is a higher value gift card to the mall—will be announced as well.
