Three Top Anne Arundel Officials Take Jobs at PG County Schools

Anne Arundel's former schools superintendent, chief of staff and former health director have all taken posts at Prince George's County Schools.

In the course of a year, the face of leadership has changed across Anne Arundel County. And the same seems to be happening in Prince George's County Schools, where three former Anne Arundel employees have transferred.

It started when former Anne Arundel County Public Schools Superintendent Kevin Maxwell announced in June that he would leave to lead Prince George's County Schools.

Maxwell started as head of Prince George schools this fall. His post in Anne Arundel is being filled by Mamie Perkins, formerly of Howard County schools.

Maxwell's former chief of staff George Margolies, announced he would be transferring to Prince George's schools on Nov. 15. His first day back at Maxwell's side will be Monday, The Capital reports.

And the latest transfer from Anne Arundel to Prince George comes from the county's former health director, Angela Wakhweya. She will serve as the Prince George's County Schools chief of health policy, according to a statement released by Wakhweya.

Wakhweya was removed as Anne Arundel's health director in January, after being asked to terminate her position by the state. At the time, Wakhweya said racism in her department led to her removal. Since then, Jinlene Chan has served as acting health director for the county.

Prince George's County Schools also hired Anne Arundel's former regional assistant superintendent, Monique Whittington Davis, The Washington Post reports. Davis will head academics, human resources and the county’s associate superintendents, according to The Post.
