Prince George's Schools Make Decision on Thursday Opening

Schools will have a delayed opening Thursday, and some half-day programs will be canceled.

After six consecutive days off, Prince George's County students are finally heading back into the classrooms on Thursday, though on a delayed schedule.

Prince George's County Schools will open two hours late Thursday, Jan. 23, and food services will offer breakfast.

Emergency personnel are required to report on time and are not eligible for liberal leave, according to a statement released by the school system Wednesday night.

There will be no half-day Early Childhood Center (ECC), half-day special education programs or half-day Pre-K Thursday. There will also be no transportation for work study—those student should not report to school, according to the release.

All field trips will be cancelled, and any school programs requiring transportation prior to noon will be canceled. This includes planned trips to the Howard B. Owens Science Center.
