Prince George's Schools Make Decision on Friday Opening

Schools will have a delayed opening Friday, and some half-day programs will be canceled.

Due to lingering icy conditions and below freezing wind chills, Prince George's County Schools will open two hours late Friday, Jan. 24.

The delay will not impact breakfast services. Emergency personnel are required to report on time and are not eligible for liberal leave, according to a statement released by the school system Thursday evening.

Half-day Early Childhood Center (ECC), half-day special education programs or half-day Pre-K are canceled Friday. There will also be no transportation for work study—those student should not report to school, according to the release.

All field trips will be cancelled, and any school programs requiring transportation prior to noon will be canceled. This includes planned trips to the Howard B. Owens Science Center.
