Prince George's County Board of Education Appoints Executive Director
Erica Berry comes from D.C. Public Schools, says her 'heart lies in policy.'
The Prince George's County Board of Education has hired its first executive director in more than six years, reports the Washington Post.
Erica Berry told the Post that "my heart lies in policy," and that she's looking forward to making school improvements a county-wide issue.
A native of Northeast Washington, D.C., Berry attended Duke University and George Washington University.
She worked for 13 years at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, serving as director of the Division of Health Care for Low Income Populations.
Previous to her appointment in Prince George's County, she was manager of Academic Policy at D.C. Public Schools. She later served as interim director of the Office of College and Career Readiness.
“She has a cross-section of skills, knowledge and experience,” Board Chairman Segun Eubanks told the Post. “She has the right package. All around, we’re very happy with the selection.”
