Ten area high school students are taking part in the Prince George's Community College TeamBuilders Academy, where they are learning construction trade skills.

Students from and other area high schools have spent several weeks this summer participating in a program to prepare them for employment upon graduation.

The Prince George’s Community College (PGCC) TeamBuilders Academy is a cohort-based career training program that was started in 2009 by former Prince George's County Council member Tony Knots. According to a PGCC press release, Knotts recognized a need to provide specialized job training to members of his community.

On August 6, ten area high school students will be recognized for completing the TeamBuilders Academy Summer Workforce Training Program, where they learned construction trade skills during the four-week program.

The TeamBuilders Academy is open to eligible adult residents of Prince George’s County suffering from chronic unemployment who are in need of training to establish a career path and enter the workforce, states the press release.

For more information on the program, visit the PGCC website or call 301-336-6000.
