Local Student Keith Shivers Dominates in Capital Classic

Shivers scored a team high 17 points in the Capital Classic preliminary game on April 21.

Henry A. Wise High School senior Keith Shivers lead the Suburban All-Stars in a 109-101 victory over the District All-Stars in Saturday’s preliminary game of the 39th Annual Capital Classic basketball tourney, reported the Gazette.

“In my opinion, he was the MVP tonight,” said Wise’s Suburban All-Stars coach Rob Garner.

Shivers, who has already garnered the interest of basketball programs at Morgan State, Howard, Hampton, Delaware, Mount St. Mary’s and Loyola, is hoping his play during the classic will draw even more college recruits to his doorstep, reported the Gazette.

“That’s what my intentions were, to promote myself and get schools to say, ‘Hey, I want that kid,’” said Shivers.
