Bowie State University 35th Annual Health Fair

Individuals can receive free health screenings for various concerns, including high blood pressure, diabetes, high cholesterol, vision and hearing issues, and dental health.  Individuals who want to start a fitness program can get a free body fat analysis and participate in exercise demonstrations that emphasize strength training and the latest cardio methods.  Healthy cooking demonstrations and tastings are also on the menu of options for fair attendees. 

Bowie State began hosting the fair to highlight health issues relevant to the African-American community. Each year the fair draws nearly 250 individuals from the Bowie State community alone. In some instances, fair attendees discovered life-threatening conditions, like high blood pressure, after completing a health screening.

Vendors and health specialists from more than 20 organizations will participate in this year's health fair.  Exhibitors include, but are not limited to:

  • Bowie Pregnancy Clinic
  • Center for Infant and Child Loss, University of Maryland
  • Community Radiology
  • In Step Podiatry Center
  • Maryland Insurance Administration
  • National Male Minority Health Project
  • Prince George's County Health Department
  • Special Care Face & Body Wellness Spa

In addition to physical wellness, exhibitors will also provide individuals with information and referrals for services that emphasize other aspects of wellness, including nutritional analysis, mental health counseling, image consultation and career counseling.
