The Belair Cooperative Nursery School Board will hold a fun event for children to celebrate Bowie’s only cooperative nursery’s 50th anniversary.

The celebration will include food, games, and other children activities. This event is open to past, present, and future interested members. It will take place in the parking lot of the nursery school at 3120 Belair Drive, Bowie, MD, on May 19, 2012, from noon to 4:00 p.m. Admission is free; donations are welcome and tax-deductible.

The school’s purpose is to provide children with a group experience that extends the values of family life by fostering a sense of community involvement. It is the philosophy of the school to encourage student awareness of and participation in one's natural, social, and cultural environment. Parental involvement is an essential part of the cooperative school. The parents form the Board of Directors and govern the entire program. They hire the teachers, assist in planning the educational program, and participate in the classroom on a rotating basis as teacher's aides.
