College Park Academy Plus Gears Up for Summer Camp Season

College Park Academy Plus is about to kick off its summer camps for middle schoolers in the region. Discounts for registration are being offered.

From a news release:

College Park Academy Plus, the enrichment program of College Park Academy, kicks off its summer camps for middle schoolers on June 23 at the academy, 7501 Adelphi Road.

CPA Plus Summer Camp is for rising 6th, 7th, and 8th graders, designed to expose them to their favorite topics in a new way. Camps take place June 23-August 15, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Each themed camp session is one week long, for a total of eight weeks. Students can sign up for one week or multiple weeks.

For a limited time, a 10 percent discount is available for those who sign up for three or more weeks. Siblings of campers who register will receive an additional 10 percent discount for their entire registration purchase.

Students can register for CPA Plus’ Summer Camp online.

Some of the weeks include:

  • A nutrition and cooking class titled “Food Stars: Eat Like An Expert,” which is designed and led by the UMD Department of Dietetics but feels like a reality cooking show;
  • “Vampires, Werewolves, and Zombies! (Oh My!),” which is a week for campers to learn about the psychology of scary cinema, explore special effects makeup, and to produce their own scary story on film, and;
  • “The Perfect Bridge,” a program created by the UMD Center for Minorities in Science and Engineering which culminates in a bridge building contest.
  • Other offerings include sports science, “Going Green,” and Star Wars!
CPA Plus Summer Camp is not limited to CPA students; it’s open to kids from all over Maryland, Virginia, and DC.

CPA Plus is an enrichment program sponsored by CPA, the rigorous new college prep public middle and high school for local students launched by the University of Maryland and the City of College Park.
