Bowie State Students To See Tuition Hike, Fee Increase

In-state students will see a 4.6 percent increase in this year's tuition and fees bill.

For the third consecutive year, (BSU) undergraduates will face a tuition hike and fee increases, bringing full-time in state costs up to $6,639—a 4.6 percent increase over last year—according the fee schedule issued by the University System of Maryland (USM).

Tuition for the 2012-2013 school year will increase $136, or 3 percent. Fees will increase by $156, or 8.7 percent. Part-time undergraduate students can expect similar percentage increases. The BSU increases are part of a system USM tuition increase approved by the board of regents, according to the Baltimore Sun.

"It's a small enough number that I think the campuses will be able to absorb it without any significant impact to student services or to academic quality," said Chancellor William E. Kirwan in the Sun.
