Bowie Schools Celebrate Male Role Models Monday

The events are part of a school system initiative to involve men more in the education of the children in their lives.

In an effort to engage fathers, grandfathers and other male role models more the lives of local students, Prince George's County Public Schools is hosting Men Make a Difference Day in schools Monday.

Male role models will be invited in to PGCPS across the county and participate in various activities. Here are some highlighted activities from three Bowie Schools.

  • At Rockledge Elementary School, male role models will be invited in for breakfast and 2013 Teacher of the Year Albert Lewis will be the guest speaker. 
  • The father of a current student at Whitehall Elementary School will address guests who attend the event there. The men will then be invited to visit children in their classrooms and join them for lunch.
  • Role models of students at Pointer Ridge Elementary School will be treated to doughnuts in the media center, followed by classroom visits and lunch with students.
