Bowie’s Jerami Grant Named to 2012 USA Under 18 National Basketball Team

Jerami will play in international tournament starting June 16.

Bowie’s Jerami Grant shares two traits with NBA stars Carmelo Anthony and Kemba Walker - playing college basketball for Syracuse University and representing the United States in the FIBA Americas U18 Championship. Grant, a recent graduate of DeMatha high school and 11 others will represent the U.S.A. on the 2012 team from June 16-20 in Sao Sebastiáo do Paraiso, Brazil.

Two other metro area basketball players will join Grant—a 6’7’ power forward from Hyattsville and the 37th best prospect in the country (according to ESPN)—on the team: Nathaniel Britt II (Gonzaga high school in Upper Marlboro) and James Robinson (DeMatha Catholic high school in Mitchelville).

Grant comes from a family of professional basketball players - his father Harvey and uncle Horace Grant played in the NBA, brother Jerai plays in Australia and other brother Jerian plays for Notre Dame), but Jerami is the first in his family to be named to the USA team and a Jordan Classic All-American.
