Back to School Bash, Bowie Style

The event will feature community organizations and free giveaways for kids.

Get ready to go back to school Bowie style with the from 10 am to 1 p.m. Aug. 18.

Event organizers expect about 30 community organizations, agencies and service providers staffing tables and distribution information. In past years, vendors have included the Bowie Boys and Girls Club, the Bowie Volunteer Fire Department and the Prince George’s County Park Police, said Duncan Churches, assistant manager at the .

Attendees also can expect a moon bounce, carnival games and more family fun. The first 250 children ages 12 and under will receive a free backpack filled with school supplies.

Participants also will have the chance to give back. A community food drive to support the Bowie Food Pantry is being held as part of the event. Attendees are asked to bring a nonperishable or canned food item for donation.
