Bowie Ranked Among Best Places to Live in Maryland

Low crime rates and a high median income contributed the high scores granted to these to areas, as ranked by a real estate blog.

Bowie Mayor G. Frederick Robinson is fond of saying, "There are two types of people: Those who live in Bowie and those who should."

At least one real estate blog—Movoto—agrees, ranking Bowie among the top 50 places to live in the state of Maryland.

Bowie came in at number 24 on the list, with the city's low crime rate, high high school graduation rate, high median income and affordable rental properties all contributing to its over all score.

Real estate blog Movoto used these seven criteria to rank places in Maryland with at least 5,000 residents:

  • Cost of living
  • Crime rate
  • High school graduation rate
  • Median household income
  • Median home value
  • Median rent price
  • Unemployment rate

Nearby Mitchellville bested Bowie by a few spots, coming in at number 21. Glenn Dale also made the list, earning the number 34 spot.

The cities that earned a top ten ranking were mostly in Montgomery County.
