What's Open, Closed in Bowie Jan. 21

Will your trash be picked up? Should you report to traffic court?

As of 8:30 a.m., flakes have not started falling, but there are several delays and closings in and around Bowie to report.

With up to 6 or more inches of snow forecasted to fall in Bowie Tuesday, many agencies have closed in advance of the storm. Here's a list, which will be updated as closings are announced.

  • Prince George's County Public Schools are closed, Code Yellow. Only emergency employees are required to report.
  • The City of Bowie Government is open, with a liberal leave policy in effect. Trash and recycling will be picked up as weather allows, and city crews will be plowing and treating streets as it becomes necessary.
  • Prince George's County government, circuit courts and district courts are closed Tuesday. Only essential personnel are required to report to work.
  • Bowie State University and the University of Maryland are closed Tuesday.
  • The federal government is closed, but telework ready employees are expected to work as usual.
