What's Open, Closed in Bowie on Martin Luther King Jr. Day 2014

Will your trash be picked up? Do the kids have school?

In observation of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, the City of Bowie offices and the Senior Center will be closed on Monday, Jan. 20.

Prince George's County Public schools will be closed on Monday in observance of the holiday. Schools will also be closed Friday, Jan. 17 as a professional development day for teachers. 

The Bowie City Council meeting normally scheduled for the third Monday of each month will instead take place on Tuesday, Jan. 21. There will also be no refuse or recycling collection Monday for those living in city limits on.

For those living in unincorporated parts of Bowie, county waste collection—including trash, recycling, yard waste and bulky trash—will happen as scheduled. County landfill facilities will also be open on Jan. 20. 

TheBus, the public transit service operated by Prince George's County, will service all regular routes on Monday, except for route 51. Call-a-ride and senior transportation services will not be available Monday, though normal routes and schedules will resume on Tuesday, Jan. 21.

Prince George’s CountyClick 3-1-1 will also be closed Monday in observance of the holiday, but  residents can still submit service/issue requests online at http://countyclick.princegeorgescountymd.gov/.
