What's Open, Closed in Bowie on Columbus Day

All city facilities will remain open, but most county agencies will be closed.

Monday marks the federally observed holiday of Columbus Day, but Bowie residents will not see any disruption of usually city services. 

Columbus Day is not an observed holiday for the Bowie City government, so City Hall will be open, as well the Bowie Senior Center, the Bowie Gym and all other city operated facilities. Trash and recycling collection will also happen according to the regular schedule next week.

The Brown Station Road Sanitary Landfill, and all waste management and refuse collection services run by the county will operate as usual on Monday. All other county agencies, aside from public safety agencies, will be closed Monday in observance of the holiday. 

TheBus, a public transit line run by Public Works and Transportation, will operate on an normal schedule Monday, except for the lines that specifically service government buildings—Routes 51, 51-Extended and 52. Call-a-Bus, the county's para-transit service, will not operate on Monday.

It should also be noted that there will be no MARC service on Monday in observance of the holiday. Additionally, the Washington Metrorail and Metrobuses will be operating on a Saturday schedule, and parking will be free at all Metrorail stations.
