Todd Turner Leads Transportation Planning Board

The Bowie councilmember is the chairman of the National Capital Region Transportation Planning Board this year.

Todd Turner was elected as chairman of the National Capital Region Transportation Planning Board (TPB) in December.

Turner said he would "work with his colleagues to draw increased attention to funding the region’s transportation needs," according to a release from the TPB.

  • Projects in local jurisdictions.
  • A regional transportation priorities plan.
  • Developing a regional “Complete Streets” policy.
  • Continuing work to secure federal grants like the $58.8 million the region won in 2010 to improve bus transit.

Serving alongside Turner in 2012 as vice chairs on the TPB are Loudoun County Chairman Scott York and District of Columbia Councilmember Tommy Wells, according to a release.

The regional planning board works on plans or programs that must receive federal government approval to receive federal funding, according to a release from TPB.
