Prince George's County to Open New Animal Clinic

"The Spay Spot" will offer low-cost spay/neutering services, pet vaccinations, Heartworm tests and nail trims.

The county's Department of Environmental Resources' Animal Management Division is opening a low-cost spay/neutering clinic located at the Animal Services Facility in Upper Marlboro next week.

Environmental officials are calling it “The Spay Spot" and it will open on Tuesday, according to a press release. In addition to providing low-cost spay/neutering services, the new facility will offer pet vaccinations, Heartworm tests and nail trims to county pets and area rescue groups.

“The public opening of the Spay/Neuter Clinic will assist us in our goal of reducing pet homelessness,” Environmental Resources Director Samuel E. Wynkoop, Jr. said in a press release. “We are excited to be able to offer these valuable services to responsible pet owners.”

The new clinic is a partnership with Waldorf-based Last Chance Animal Rescue, Inc. and will be operated by their veterinarians and support staff. That clinic has provided low-cost spay/neuter services to sheltered animals since July 7.

The Upper Marlboro clinic will be open Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. Animals may be dropped off from 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. and picked up by 3 p.m. Spay/neuter prices start at $45 and go up according to weight.
