City Schedules Hydrant Flushing for Tulip Grove

Residents may experience discolored water during the two-week period of the flushing.

Residents living in Tulip Grove may experience discolored water between Sept. 17 and 28, but there is no cause for alarm.

The city of Bowie Public Works Department is doing a special fire hydrant flushing in Tulip Grove during this two-week period. They report that the water will be safe for drinking and bathing while discolored, but may stain clothes, so residents should refrain from doing laundry until the water is running clear.

Anyone who does wash clothes in the discolored water and notices stains should keep the clothing wet and rewash it with a rust remover, which will be provided to residents at no cost and available at city hall and the Public Works Department.

Several of the neighborhoods that are interconnected with Tulip Grove may also experience discolored water during this two week period, according to the city.  Neighborhoods that might be impacted are Foxhill, Long Ridge, Meadowbrook, Gradys Walk and the Gallant Fox Office Park.

All flushing will occur Monday through Friday between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. Contact the Public Works Department at 301-809-2344 with any questions.
