Post: Bowie Resident Yvette Lewis Named Chairwoman of Maryland Democratic Party

Opera singer and longtime political volunteer Yvette Lewis was recently named Chairwoman of the state's Democratic Party.

According to The Washington Post, longtime politcial volunteer and Bowie resident Yvette Lewis has been named the chairwoman of the Maryland Democratic Party after Peter O'Malley—Gov. Martin O'Malley's brother—resigned as chairman to take the job of chief of staff to Baltimore Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake.

Lewis was also recently mentioned in an article in The Gazette, highlighting her work with students at , teaching them about opera as part of her "So, this is Opera!" program, which she started about 20 years ago.
