Bowie Reads Seeks Donations

Gently used and new books will be given out for free to children at the 2012 Bowiefest.

The City of Bowie is asking residents with new or gently used children's books to donate them so they can be given away to local kids for free next month.

In partnership with the Tulip Grove Elementary School PTA, the city’s Education Committee is collecting gently used and new books that will be given away for free to children who visit the Bowie Reads booth during the 2012 Bowiefest, being held on June 2 from 11 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Ice Arena.

Those interested in donating can drop books off in the front lobby of Tulip Grove Elementary between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Books donated when the building is closed should be left on the front porch by the blue double doors.

EZ Storage of Bowie has donated a free storage unit to accommodate the donations.
