So, what kind of message will Baker be emphasizing in his reelection run? His BBQ announcement could provide a preview of his arguments, which emphasizes improvements "on all the major issues" facing Prince George's County.

"Rushern Baker changed the pay-to-play perception of Prince George's by putting meaningful ethics reform in place. Under the Baker administration, Prince George's County has $4 billion in potential…new development, including high-end retail and dining, more healthy shopping options, the first destination resort in the metropolitan area; and a new cornerstone for health care delivery, a new teaching hospital," reads the release.

"In addition, the Baker Administration reorganized the government and has made permitting faster and code enforcement a reality. And, under the Baker Administration, crime has been driven to a 30 year record low and we have restructured our Board of Education to create an environment for a new CEO to more rapidly improve our public school system," reads the release.

Baker was first elected to the county executive post in 2010 after two failed campaigns for the seat in 2002 and 2006
