Youth Dead After Police Respond to Rowdy House Party in Upper Marlboro

Police responding to reports of gunshots on North Marlton Avenue in Upper Marlboro overnight found a 19-year-old on the stoop of a house and he was later pronounced dead at a hospital, Prince George's County police said Saturday.

The victim was identified as Rashad Andre Pinkney of Larchmont Avenue in Capitol Heights.

Police said they were called at about 12:05 a.m. Saturday to the 11800 block of North Marlton Avenue due to the sound of gunshots. They then discovered that a home in the 11700 block was the scene of a large house party, with hundreds of partygoers in the street, according to a press release.

A homeowner reported a suspicious person on a front stoop and police found Pinkney on the steps, the release said. He was later pronounced dead, police said.

A patrol officer at the scene of the house party was injured in an assault by a 17-year-old suspect, who faces assault charges, police said.
