Two Bowie Teens Robbed at Gunpoint

No injuries were reported and the suspect made off with $14.

Two Bowie teens were robbed at gunpoint by a man wearing a ski mask on Saturday evening, according to Bowie police. The assailant got away with $14.

The robbery occurred at around 7 p.m. in the parking lot of Allen Pond Park and was reported to Bowie police by the teens, two boys ages 14 and 15, about an hour later.

The victims told police that they were approached in the parking lot by an unknown man wearing a ski mask and glasses, who brandished a handgun at them and demanded their money. The boys handed over $14 and the suspect fled on foot, said police.

No injuries were reported and the incident is under investigation.

This is the second armed robbery reported in Bowie in a week. Patch reported last week that a woman was robbed of her purse while walking from her car to her townhome on the 14000 block London Lane in the early hours of Oct. 16.

That robbery, which occurred about two miles north of Allen Pond Park, is still under investigation and police said they do not believe the two crimes are related.

"We are treating them as two separate incidents right now," said Bowie Police Chief John Nesky.  "We don't have any reason to believe they are connected."
