Trial Begins Wednesday in Bowie Child Sex Abuse Case

Michael Brochu of Bowie was first arrested last summer and is facing multiple charges related to the molestation and abuse of several Bowie area children.

The trial of Bowie man charged with 58 counts of sexual offenses and child abuse is set to begin Wednesday, according to the Prince George’s County State’s Attorney's Office.

Michael Brochu, 52, is charged in “abusing and molesting multiple young boys, ages 6-11, from the Bowie area,” according to a state ment for the state’s attorney’s office.

Brochu was initially arrested in early August after a victim came forward. He was released on bond, only to be rearrested a few days later when two more victims came forward with sex abuse allegations. Brochu was released on bond a second time, and arrested again weeks later when a fourth victim came forward with allegations of abuse.

According to the state's attorney's office, Brochu was reportedly molesting boys at a community swimming pool and offering to buy them snacks to keep the children from reporting the abuse.

The trial will begin with jury selection on Wednesday, with opening arguments expected to follow. The state’s attorney’s office has said they expect the trial to take approximately three days.

This case and those of accused pedophiles like Sylvain Kustyan, Ariel Castro, Jerry Sandusky etc. prove we need to stop them ASAP BEFORE they have decades to harm our innocent children. Kustyan, formerly of Tuscaloosa, AL and France, has been formally charged with two counts of 1st Degree Sodomy and Sexual Abuse of a ten-year-old little boy. Upon learning that an arrest was imminent, Kustyan fled the US and is currently a fugitive from the law and thought to be in Europe.

Couldn't agree more Caroline! The fact that this guy was let out on bond TWICE is scary enough! If they threw away the key the first time they offended, there wouldn't be a second, third, tenth.... Sorry, hurting children in any form, especially sexually, should be an automatic life sentence.

Hope they throw the book at the scumbag! locals beware - watch your kids! hhttp://www.dpscs.state.md.us/sorSearch/search.do?searchType=detail&anchor=false&id=7315034. William Patrick Lopez - K Section in Bowie. This is the scumbag that solicited sex from my daughter when she was a freshman in HS. He is a registered sex offender for the next 25 years. His biggest regret when he got caught - that he couldn't coach hockey in Bowie!

That's crazy I don't think bond should be an option with these sex offenders!!!! Let them out for what to just turn around and sexually molest another child!!!
