The trial of Bowie man charged with 58 counts of sexual offenses and child abuse is set to begin Wednesday, according to the Prince George’s County State’s Attorney's Office.
Michael Brochu, 52, is charged in “abusing and molesting multiple young boys, ages 6-11, from the Bowie area,” according to a state ment for the state’s attorney’s office.
Brochu was initially arrested in early August after a victim came forward. He was released on bond, only to be rearrested a few days later when two more victims came forward with sex abuse allegations. Brochu was released on bond a second time, and arrested again weeks later when a fourth victim came forward with allegations of abuse.
According to the state's attorney's office, Brochu was reportedly molesting boys at a community swimming pool and offering to buy them snacks to keep the children from reporting the abuse.
The trial will begin with jury selection on Wednesday, with opening arguments expected to follow. The state’s attorney’s office has said they expect the trial to take approximately three days.
