Traffic Enforcement in Bowie Yields 20 Tickets, Arrest

An Upper Marlboro man was arrested with more than an ounce of marijuana, two digital scales and cash after being pulled over for speeding.

At around 1 p.m. on April 21, Bowie Patrol Units were conducting speed enforcement near Jennings Mill Drive, issuing 20 traffic citations and leading to an arrest, according to a report from police.

An officer pulled over a vehicle in the 700 block of Jennings Mill Drive and as he approached the vehicle, he smelled a strong odor of marijuana. A search of the vehicle recovered a total of 28.4 grams of marijuana, two digital scales and $321.55 in cash, according to police.

The driver was 21-year-old Rahsaan Akeem Morris of Upper Marlboro; he was transported to the Upper Marlboro Department of Corrections and charged accordingly.

Morris was pulled over for speeding a few blocks away in September 2010, but was just given a speeding ticket. This time around, he is being charged with possession and intent to distribute a controlled dangerous substance (CDS), possession of marijuana, marijuana packing for distribution, and three counts of possession of CDS paraphernalia, according to district court records.
