Bowie High Student Faces Weapons Possession Charges

A 15-year-old boy faces charges after bringing a BB gun onto school property last week.

A 15-year-old boy was arrested last week and charged with possession of a dangerous weapon after he brought a BB gun onto school property at according to a police report.

Bowie police responded to the report of a suspicious person carrying a weapon on Scarlet Oak Terrace on the morning of Nov. 7, and were unable to locate the suspect, the report said. Police said the caller then reported that the suspect attended Bowie High School, so police went to that location where they saw a suspect matching the caller’s description.

The suspect was detained by the school resource officer without incident and police found a BB gun in his bag, according to the report.

The teen was arrested and charged with possession of a dangerous weapon on school property. Police said there were no injuries related to this incident.

There have been two other recent incidents of students bringing weapons into their schools, both in neighboring Edgewater. About a month ago, an Edgewater teen was charged with two counts of posession of a dangerous weapon for bringing a knife and a pellet gun into his school. Earlier this month, a middle school student in Edgewater was charged with disorderly conduct and threatening a student when he brought a loaded BB gun to school.
