Sentencing of Convicted Bowie Child Molester Continued

The sentencing hearing was continued to Aug. 12.

The sentencing of Michael Brochu, a 53-year-old Bowie man convicted in June of child molestation, has been continued to Aug. 12.

According to the office of Prince George’s County State’s Attorney Angela D. Alsobrooks, Brochu was convicted of one count of second degree sex offense, one count of sexual abuse of a minor and one count of unnatural and perverted practices of a young boy in his care. The abuse occurred in his Brochu's home and a community pool nearby.

Brochu was indicted in August 2012, after the boy reported the abuse and during the trial, Alsobrooks said, "the victim was able to provide specific details into each incident and the victim’s mother testified that Brochu had been a trusted adult and her son had played with Brochu’s grandson at Brochu’s residence on a number of occasions."

Two more cases are pending for Brochu who is charged in similar abuse cases with other children. Those cases are scheduled to take place in October and November respectively.
