Report: Bowie Man Convicted of Fatal 2011 Hit-and-Run

Christian Howard Anderson, 23, was found guilty of several charges related to the incident.

Christian Howard Anderson, 23, of Bowie has been found guilty of the fatal 2011 hit-and-run that killed a 23-year-old woman who was walking on northbound Rt. 3 near Columbian Way, reported The Bowie Blade-News.

Police reports indicate that Sandy Beltran was walking on the shoulder of northbound Rt. 3 when she was hit by a vehicle and killed. Witnesses observed a damaged silver Ford Focus and two people at the scene, reported The Bowie Blade.

The public’s assistance was sought in identifying the driver, and Anderson’s parents thought their son was involved and encouraged him to turn himself in to police.

Anderson was indicted in November 2012 on charges related to Beltran’s death, including hit-and-run, failure to stop at an accident involving bodily injury, reckless driving and other charges.

He was found guilty of five charged related to the fatal accident and is scheduled to be sentenced on Sept. 20. The Bowie Blade reports Anderson’s lawyer has filed for a new trial, and that motion will be heard in court prior to his sentencing.
