Prince George's Police Investigate Murder-Suicide

Couple was recently divorced.

A Prince George's woman who had been out celebrating her birthday was shot to death by her ex-husband who then turned the gun on himself, committing suicide, according to police.

Patrol officers were called to the 7200 block of Jaywick Avenue in Fort Washington just after midnight Wednesday for a shooting.  When they arrived, they found a woman and man in the parking lot of an apartment complex, both suffering from gunshot wounds.  

Michelle Miranda-Fletche and Lester Lee Fletcher Jr., both 32, were pronounced dead at the scene.

Witnesses heard the couple arguing before shots rang out, police said.

Fletcher shot his ex-wife multiple times before shooting himself, authorities said.

“The preliminary investigation suggests the gunman, the woman’s ex-husband, was waiting for her when she arrived,” according to a statement from Prince George’s police. “The suspect drove up to the woman’s car and began to threaten her.”
