Pot Busts, Burglary Charges: Bowie Crime

Several people are facing charges in connection with smoking marijuana in public, and two people have been charged with burglary this month in Bowie.

Two men are facing burglary charges in connection with a home invasion on Dunleigh Drive, and several others are facing drug charges in separate incidents in Bowie crime this month. 

On Nov. 11, police responded to the 14900 block of Dunleigh Drive for a report of a residential burglary. Once on the scene, police searched and did not locate anyone inside the home. 

Officers searched the area and detained two men who matched the victim's description. They found evidence in the car placed both men—identified as Markus Horton, 19, of DC; and Randy Devon, 19, of District Heights—under arrest. 

Devon and Horton were positively identified by the victim, police said. Both men were taken to the Department of Corrections and charged accordingly.

Also in November, three separate incidents led to various drug charges agains five Bowie residents.

In two of the incidents—one on Jennings Mill Drive and one on Governor's Bridge Road—police came upon parked vehicles and smelled marijuana, according to the reports. 

Those involved in both cases admitted to police they had been smoking marijuana and small amounts of the drug were recovered. A total of four Bowie residents were arrested and charged accordingly in connection with these incidents.

In a third incident on Superior Lane, police responded to a call that someone was smoking marijuana in the neighborhood. Officers searched the area and encountered a man, who police say smelled like marijuana. 

When questioned, the man admitted to having drugs with him and told police where on his body they would find the drugs. Police found a small amount of marijuana and a glass pipe used for smoking the drug in the man's possession. He was arrested and charged accordingly, according to the police report.
