A Bowie woman was arrested Monday for allegedly assaulting her parents, threatening to kill her father with a knife and jumping from a second-story window while holding her child, according to police.
Kyra Chimere Smith, 23, faces charges one charge each of first-degree assault, second-degree child abuse, reckless endangerment and possession of a dangerous weapon with intent to injure and two counts of second-degree assault, according to online court records.
A release from the Prince George's County Office of the Sheriff states that a warrant for Smith's arrest was dated March 10 and filed by the Bowie Police Department (BPD).
The warrant states that Smith allegedly assaulted her mother and father before grabbing a knife and threatening to kill her father, and then attempted to jump from a second-story window while holding her 1-year-old child. BPD officers were able to restrain her before she jumped.
Smith was apprehended from a Largo residence Monday by sheriff’s deputies and held on $175,000 bond at the Prince George’s County Department of Corrections, according to the release. Her bond was lowered to $75,000 Tuesday.
