Police: Was Speed a Factor in Fatal Crash?

Police officers are asking for the public to share any information on a Friday night crash that killed a Lanham.

A car went off the road Friday night in Lanham, striking a tree and killing a passenger in the vehicle, says the Prince George's County Police Department.

Officers were called to the 11400 block of Lanham Severn Road about 10:15 p.m. Friday for the report of a crash involving a single car that had struck a tree. The passenger, Gary Lionell Jackson, 62, of Ridge Street in Lanham, was pronounced dead on the scene.

The driver, whose identity has not been released by police, suffered minor injuries.

Investigators are looking into whether speed is a factor in this crash.
