Police: Speed May Have Been Factor in Fatal Motorcycle Crash

Prince George's County Police have released the name of an Upper Marlboro man who died Saturday after his motorcycle crashed into a tree.

Investigators are trying to determine if speed caused a motorcycle crash Saturday that killed an Upper Marlboro man.

The Prince George's County Police Department says Jeffrey Shackelford, 34, of Lord Fairfax Court in Upper Marlboro died from injuries suffered in a one-vehicle crash. Police were called about 8:50 p.m. Saturday to the intersection of John Rodgers Boulevard and Lords Landing Road for a crash involving a motorcycle.

Responders found Shackelford suffering from critical injuries; he died soon after at a local hospital.

Police say Shackelford was westbound on John Rodgers Boulevard, when for reasons which remain unclear, his motorcycle left the road and struck a tree. Investigators are looking into whether speed was a factor in the crash.
