Updated: Police Cancel Alert for Missing Person in Bowie

The alert was canceled Friday evening after the man was "found deceased in the woods," police said.

Updated (9:05 p.m.)—After issuing a missing person alert on Friday morning, the Bowie Police Department canceled the alert around 7:35 p.m.

"The missing person was found deceased in the woods," said Chief John Nesky of the Bowie Police Department via e-mail. "It was an apparent suicide and Prince George's County is handling the rest of the investigation."

The Bowie Police Department released information on Friday morning about a missing person, David Francis Gormley, who was last seen April 27 around 10:30 a.m. at his home on Kembridge Drive. Police believed he may be lost or confused and may be armed with a revolver.

Gormley, 81, is described as a white man, standing 5-feet-7-inches tall and weighing 110  pounds.

According to police, he may be driving a 1988 blue Toyota Corolla with Maryland tag: 5CKH24.
