UPDATE: Suspect Shot After Fleeing Police, Driving Truck Towards Officers in Bowie

The suspect is reportedly in good condition and expected to recover from his injuries.

Update, 6:04 p.m.: The suspect shot by Bowie police officers in the K section Friday afternoon is in the hospital being treated for his injuries, and is expected to fully recover, according to police.

Officers say were investigating a report of a stolen car at the 2600 block of Kennison Lane, when they encountered the suspect, who fled on foot from police. Two officers followed the suspect, also on foot.

Police say the suspect, a 26-year-old man, jumped into a black pickup trick that was warming up in a neighbor's driveway. Police say the suspect then drove the vehicle in the direction of one of the officers, with the intent to strike the officer. At that point, both officers fired their weapons at the suspect. The suspect was struck at least one time, according to the police report.

Bowie Police Chief John Nesky said in a press conference Friday that he believes the shooting was justified.

"Everything we have on the surface appears to be a justified shooting," Nesky said.

A follow up investigation into the shooting will be conducted by Prince George's County police, Nesky said.

The two officers involved in the shooting have been placed on administrative leave pending the investigation, according to police. Charges against the suspect are pending.
