Police Investigate Shell Station Armed Robbery in Bowie

The suspect made off with an undisclosed amount of money, according to police.

Prince George’s County police are investigating a May 23 armed robbery at the Bel Air Shell Station on Annapolis Road, according to a police report.

Bowie police responded to a report of an armed robbery at the Bel Air Shell Station on 13811 Old Annapolis Road just after 7 p.m. on May 23.

According to the victim, a man entered the store, brandished a handgun and demanded money. The victim gave the suspect an undisclosed amount of money, and the suspect fled south on Church Road on foot, towards Westview Forest Drive.

The victim said the suspect was a black man, wearing a black shirt, a black baseball cap and blue jeans at the time of the robbery, according to the police report.

Police searched the area and found a black shirt and a black baseball cap in the 4500 block of Church Road. A witness saw a black man running south on Church Road towards Westview Forest Drive and into the backyard of a house, police said.

Prince George’s County crime scene investigators responded to process the scene and a county K-9 unit arrived to help search for the suspect. The search was unsuccessful.

The Prince George’s County Robbery Unit has taken charge the investigation.

This particular Shell Station was the target of at least two armed robberies in 2012, one in March and another one in October.
