Around 9:30 p.m. officers reported to the scene of Landover Road and John Hanson Highway where a pedestrian was struck, police said. Officers found a woman lying in the roadway and she was pronounced dead on the scene.

According to detectives, the woman was trying to cross Landover Road when she was struck. She wasn't in a crosswalk, police said.

The striking vehicle -- a gold SUV, possibly a Ford -- did not stop after hitting the woman.
