Pedestrian Dies from Injuries in Hit and Run Accident: Police

Prince George's County Police are seeking the driver of a fatal hit-and-run accident in Hyattsville.

A man has died from injuries suffered when he was hit by a car earlier this month while crossing a Hyattsville road late at night, according to the Prince George's County Police Department.

The collision happened about 1 a.m. on May 18 when 42-year-old Rosendo Mendez of New Riggs Road in Hyattsville tried to cross University Boulevard near 15th Avenue. Police say that when Mendez stepped off the median strip, a car heading westbound on University Boulevard struck him. Mendez was not in a crosswalk. The car did not stop.

The car is described as a medium-sized sedan. Investigators would like to speak with anyone who may have witnessed this collision or has any information on this case.
