Off-Duty Federal Officer Exchanges Shots in Bowie's Tall Oaks Neighborhood

After two suspects broke into his neighbor's house, the officer exchanged shots with the suspects as they fled.

At 2:45 p.m. on Monday, the Bowie Police Department responded to the 15000 block of Peregrine Court—in Bowie's Tall Oaks neighborhood—after reports of a residential robbery and the sound of gunshots, according to the police report.

When police arrived, they met an off-duty federal officer who said that one of his neighbors came to him after two people had broken into their home. The off-duty officer then encountered the two suspects fleeing the scene at which time gunfire was exchanged between the officer and one of the suspects.

Both suspects fled the scene, Bowie and Prince George's Police departments set up perimeters of the area, leading to the detainment of two people of interest who have been taken into the station for questioning.
