Man Critically Burned After Porta-Potty Engulfed in Flames

The man was flown to an area burn unit with life-threatening injuries, authorities said.

A man is in critical condition after the porta-potty he was in became engulfed in flames Tuesday morning in College Park, reports WNEW.

A passing Maryland State Trooper spotted the fire in the Sunnyside Neighborhood Park in the 10100 block of Rhode Island Avenue, around 7 a.m., the station reports. The trooper put out the flames using an extinguisher in his vehicle.

The trooper pulled the man, who is in his 20s, from the burning porta-potty. He was flown to a local burn unit with life-threatening injuries, according to Prince George’s County Fire Department spokesperson Mark Brady.

The fire is being investigated by the fire department and Maryland National Park and Planning Commission Police Department, the TV station reported.
