Man Attempts Robbery at Bowie Credit Union with Automatic Weapon

The man fled the scene before he was able to get any money, nobody was hurt in the incident.

Just before 5 p.m. on Wednesday, a man walked into the Educational System Federal Credit Union (ESFCU) in the 4800 block of Glenn Dale Road in Bowie in an attempted robbery, according to county police.

The man approached the front desk as he entered the credit union, wearing a white T-shirt around his face, displayed a MAC-11 automatic machine pistol and demanded money, according to Cpl. Henry Tippett, a spokesperson for the county police.

The man was unsuccessful in his robbery, and fled the bank toward a nearby wooded area. Prince George’s County Police searched the area on foot and with a K-9 unit and were able to recover the weapon used in the robbery, but were unable to locate the suspect.

Tippett said the man was only in the credit union for a few seconds before fleeing and that nobody was hurt in the incident.
