Hyattsville Man Dies After He's Struck by Two Cars
A man who tried to cross a road in Takoma Park without using the crosswalk was fatally struck and killed by two cars Saturday.
A man died Saturday night when he tried to cross a Takoma Park street without using the crosswalk and was hit by two cars, according to the Prince George’s County Police Department.
The victim was identified as Walter Franco-Chinchilla, 32, of the 7700 block of Chillum Road in Hyattsville.
Patrol officers were called just before midnight to the 6700 block of New Hampshire Avenue for a pedestrian collision. When they arrived, they found Franco-Chinchilla in the roadway; he was pronounced dead at the scene.

The preliminary investigation suggests Franco-Chinchilla was trying to cross New Hampshire Avenue when he was struck by a car. He was not in a crosswalk. Moments later, a second car also struck him.
The drivers of both cars stayed at the scene and are cooperating with investigators, police said.

Investigators do not believe excessive speed played a role in the crash.
