Four Teens Arrested After Weekend Break-In at Yorktown Elementary

Yogurt and football cleats were among the items recovered.

What do yogurt, Minute Maid Ice Pops and football cleats have in common? They're all among the items that four teenage boys stole from Yorktown according to Bowie’s Chief of Police, John Nesky.

At 2:40 a.m. on April 2, officers from the Bowie Police Department responded to after several security alarms were triggered, starting with the one in the front media room, according to the police report.

As police were checking the area, they saw four suspects flee from the school and run through the wooded path toward Yorktown Drive. After a brief chase on foot, police found the four teenage boys hiding behind concrete barriers covering themselves with leaves.

It was at that time that the stolen items were found in the area and recovered. The Prince George’s County K-9 unit checked the school and surrounding area for any other suspects. None were found.

The four suspects—three from Bowie and one from Lanham—were arrested and transported to the Bowie Police Station for processing and were charged as juveniles for burglary.
