Firefighter Injured in Bowie House Fire

Flames swept through a vacant home Sunday in the 12700 block of Kingsfield Lane.

Authorities say a firefighter was injuried Sunday as crews worked to put out a house fire in Bowie.

The blaze occurred early Sunday afternoon at a vacant home in the 12700 block of Kingsfield Lane, according to Prince George's County Fire Department spokesman Mark Brady.

Responders arrived to find flames showing from the second floor, Brady said. Firefighters worked to put the fire out but had to be evacuated from the structure at one point.

The bulk of the blaze has since been extinguished, according to Brady, but one firefighter was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

A photo of the scene from Baltimore Metro News showed massive damage to the second floor of the home.
