Man Makes off with Woman's Money, Wedding Rings in South Bowie

A Bowie woman's iPod and cash were taken from her in a recent incident in South Bowie.

A 26-year-old Bowie woman was approached on a South Bowie path by a young man who demanded her money and valuables, according to Bowie Police.

Police responded to the intersection of Elder Oaks Boulevard and Excalibur Roads just before 5:30 p.m. Monday.

The crime was initially reported as a strong arm robbery, but the crime was later reclassified as a larceny, according to Bowie Police Chief Katherine Perez, because the suspect allegedly did not use threats or force when demanding the woman's property.

The victim told police the suspect got away with her iPod, $15, and her diamond wedding rings. He then fled on foot.

There were no witnesses and the victim was uninjured. Bowie police set up a perimeter and attempted a canine search of the area, which was unsuccessful due to the weather.
